Marinos Anastasakis is an Assistant Professor of Didactics, specialising in Mathematics Education (Department of Primary Education, University of Crete). He is also the coordinator of the University of Crete's Teaching and Learning Support Centre (CTL TotT).

Marinos holds a BSc in Physics and a MSc in Mathematics for Education from the University of Crete in Greece. He completed his PhD in Mathematics Education at the Department of Mathematics Education in Loughborough University, UK. During his time in the UK he worked as an Associate for the Further Mathematics Support Program (Mathematics Education Innovation Charity, UK).

After finishing his PhD studies, Marinos worked as an Adjunct Lecturer in various Universities in Greece (Department of Mathematics & Applied Mathematics - University of Crete, Department of Electronic Engineering - Hellenic Mediterranean University) and as a Collaborating Researcher at the Socio-Educational Research and Innovation Group located at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics (FORTH-Hellas). In 2022, he joined the Department of Primary Education at the University of Crete (Greece) as an Adjunct Lecturer and in 2024 he was appointed Assistant Professor.

A central point of his research activity is Cultural-Historical Theory. From this perspective, he studies the development of concept formation, the design of teaching approaches that foster generalisation and abstraction, and the relationship between phylogeny and ontogeny.
